Research Report Template

Content:
The research report will have the following sections.

1. Introduction. introduce your problem and a global overview

2. Background and Related Work: give the reader an idea of the research issues and summarize efforts reported in literature to address some of these research issues. Finish this section with a critique of the previous efforts and their limitations.

3. Conceptual Framework. In this section lay out what you consider to be a good methodology to address your application area. Describe in some detail your philosophical and design considerations in coming up with a solution. what will it address. what are the frameworks limitations. how would you build it.

4. Evaluation Methodology. How would you evaluate your methodology. Think about formative evaluation (evaluation during the development process and project execution) and summative evaluation (evaluation of the entire system after its done etc.)

5. Potential Impact. Give a summary of what you consider to be the intellectual merit of your approach and broader impact. How will your project contribute to fundamentals of BMI goes into the intellectual merit and how it will have broader impact in fields such as neurology or computer science goes into broader impact

6. Projects/Research to Track. This is where you describe some projects or researchers (just names, websites and one line summaries of their approach) who are doing similar work to yours and are your competitors.

7. Conclusions. Give a description of conclusions and possible future work.

8. References. Follow the Vancouver format (if you dont know what that is.. well attend the lecture on using refworks)
