InterMountain HealthCare Case Study
As far as I'm concerned, the information shared by Dr. Parker is the world I live in all the time and the guts of Clinical Informatics at present if you were to apply for a job with a healthcare organization What InterMountain has accomplished is challenges and opportunities every healthcare organization will be facing to meet the HIT demands. Many heathcare organizations will need to tackle the data dictionary concepts and the data storage decisions. InterMountain has utilized the best of breed approach which requires a central data repository to pull all the information together. Once that information is in a central location, the information can be fed to the data warehouse for reporting or to the EMR for clinician access. Decision support is based upon the data flowing in the CDR so it is important to have a good data dictionary, data stewards, etc in place to oversee the quality of the data being entered. Overall, I loved the presentation as it was true to reality in clinical informatics today and helped apply the knowledge presented.
