Week

Content:  Thank you Mithra for the lecture.  It was very interesting to see how just a simple warm-up can have such great improvement on a surgeon.  It makes so much sense that surgeons warm-up before conducting surgery yet they don't.  But yet I wonder if a surgeon warms-up, will he/she get fatigue earlier? Since it was also proven that fatigue plays a role in the performance of the surgeon it would be interesting to find out.

Virtual realty is a powerful tool, and I think we are just seeing the beginning of technology.  As for medical education, virtual reality is being used in many places other than surgery.  For example, it is used  to train physician communications skills.  In contrast it is also being used to patients, especially veterans, with post-traumatic stress disorder. An news article on this can be seen in the following link: http://archives.chicagotribune.com/2009/feb/05/local/chi-virtual-reality_zone_nwfeb05
